I don't think of cleats as "go speedy" gear....I consider them as protection gear. I've found quite a few people drop and drop guns or slip and drop donning hiking shoes when it wouldn't transpire if they were carrying cleats. the sole time I'v observed them be considered a drawback was on stairs, platforms etcetera that do not have carpet on them.
